The Newman Rooms
The Oxford University Catholic Chaplaincy is based in the Old Palace, also known as Bishop King's Palace, a Grade I listed building overlooking Christ Church in the heart of Oxford. Dating from the late 15th century, the historic Palace has been carefully complemented by modern additions, creating a distinctive venue that combines character, heritage and contemporary facilities.
The Newman Rooms provide a flexible setting for conferences, meetings and a wide range of events. Entered through the Chaplaincy's distinctive blue door, the spaces include the Polygon and Narthex, which can be used independently or combined for larger functions. A small kitchenette is also available for hire.
Additional event spaces include the Crispian Hollis Room, suitable for both formal and informal gatherings, together with the Strange Room and a peaceful library on the upper floors. For filming and other special occasions, the Blue Room offers spectacular views and an impressive historic ceiling within the oldest part of the Palace.
